Bomax is an award-winning practice of dedicated and experienced architects pursuing a unique contemporary style of sustainable, minimalist architecture.
The practice was founded in 2000 by Dion Max Walters, who directs the studio with partner Josh Brodie. Bomax is located on the corner of bustling Pepper & Bree Streets in Cape Town. A consistent portfolio of local and international design projects continues, including commercial buildings, upmarket residential homes, retail interiors and spatial urban designs. We are creative agents executing the art of architecture with passion and flair.
Sustainability
We are using the equivalent of 1.6 Earths to maintain our current way of life, and ecosystems cannot keep up with our demands.
Our lifestyles are associated with two thirds of all greenhouse gas emissions – studies show that sustainable lifestyles and behaviours could reduce our emissions by 40 to 70% by 2025.
Sustainable architecture and construction can drive economic development, mitigate climate change, positively impact health and pollution, and help alleviate poverty.
Our architecture seeks to minimise the negative environmental impact of buildings with the efficiency and moderation of the use of materials, energy, and development space.
Successful sustainable architecture uses a conscious approach to energy and ecological conservation. We encourage our clients to work with us at considering energy efficiency through passive design and environmental material specification. It’s a team effort and awareness is key.
Meet The Team
We are a team of skilled and experienced registered architects, creating and resolving architectural concepts by developing the design through a comprehensive sequence of services.
Our design abilities are diverse and we have created a variety of projects from commercial mixed-use buildings to urban landscapes and furniture. The practice is registered with both the Cape Institute of Architects and the South African Institute of Architects and provides a full architectural service to both private and corporate clients including site administration and project handover.
