More about the winning project:
Caught between the mountain and the ocean, the bold, statuesque House Llandudno is a stunning coastal home cast in off-shutter concrete, designed for clients with a deep appreciation for contemporary architecture and minimalist style. Its striking concrete forms serve as a passive design solution against the unforgiving Cape climate while standing in a balanced juxtaposition with the surrounding nature.
Collaborating with leading international engineers and a specialised concrete form-work team, Bomax produced these deep unsupported razor-edge eaves that create a weightless illusion as they elegantly cantilever over the horizon with large open spans. The strong-formed architecture of House Llandudno is firmly rooted in place, respecting and enhancing its surroundings and promoting a closer connection to the landscape. Earlier this year, House Llandudno was also shortlisted in the design et al: The International Design & Architecture Awards in the Residential Architecture Property category earlier this year.
