Bömax Shortlisted for the SCAPE Awards of Excellence 2025

We are honoured to share that Bömax Architects has been shortlisted for the 2025 SCAPE Awards of Excellence in the category of ‘Unbuilt Project of the Year’. To be recognised within a field that has grown so strongly this year, and become a clear favourite among the categories, and with the Unbuilt Project category attracting some of the most exciting work to date, is a profound privilege.

The SCAPE Awards have quickly become a benchmark for our industry, not simply because they recognise achievement, but because they ask us to reflect on the depth of our ideas and the integrity of our execution. The measure has always been excellence, and that standard resonates deeply with our own approach to architecture.

At Bömax, we believe that every project begins with a conviction and that architecture must be purposeful, meticulously resolved, and sensitive to its context. Our shortlisted submission reflects this philosophy. Though unbuilt, it is a work shaped with the same care and precision we bring to every commission: a study in material honesty, spatial clarity, and a commitment to design that endures.

Our shortlisted project, ウミノヤ Uminoya – House of the Sea, is deeply rooted in the way of Japanese design principles. It is a work guided by restraint, balance, and harmony with nature. Though unbuilt, ウミノヤ Uminoya embodies our commitment to creating architecture that feels timeless and meets between cultural depth and contemporary clarity, between the weight of structure and the lightness of space.

To stand alongside practices and individuals whose work we admire is a humbling moment. It affirms that architecture is not only about what is built, but also about the ideas, processes, and experiments that shape the future of our profession.

As we anticipate the announcement on 10 October 2025, we take this recognition as encouragement to continue refining our craft, pushing boundaries, and contributing to an architectural discourse that values substance over spectacle.

We thank SCAPE for creating a platform that celebrates this pursuit, and we extend our gratitude to our collaborators and clients who share our vision for architecture that is both timeless and transformative.
