Bomax Architects was among 20+ architecture studios that opened their doors to the public during Open Studios Architecture 2023—the pulse of Cape Town’s architectural landscape.

The event took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, 17 and 18 October 2023, from 5 PM to 8 PM after a 3-year break due to COVID-19. More studios and attendees participated than ever before.

Open Studios brought together architects, built environment professionals, students, and the general public for a city-wide showcase of creativity and innovation. The event allowed the public to engage with architecture by visiting distinguished architectural studios in Cape Town. Each studio curated its own event, and guests could chat with architects about their work and design process and view notable built work displayed, including architectural models, drawings, photographs, films, and virtual reality.

The event centres around two main areas: the CBD and East City. Studios near each other were grouped together to make it easy for visitors to walk between them and explore multiple locations in one night. The overall atmosphere was lively and enriching—a social event all design enthusiasts marked on their calendars.
