This home designed by Bomax is in the natural coastal forest of Signature Estate, Umdloti, Kwa-Zulu Natal. It was designed to enjoy uninterrupted sea views of the Indian Ocean.

An elegant bevel edged concrete roof slab creates a light roof, balancing the weight of horizontal cantilevers with vertical structure. Stacked social wings on three levels are integrated with a connecting spiral staircase. The cantilevered slabs blur the lines over the inside and outside spaces, creating connectivity for entertainment and relaxation. A concealed approach and sense of arrival for the guests creates drama on arrival. To prevent views of the Ocean from being disturbed, a concealed vehicle ramp descends to a hidden garage basement for four cars which allows private underground parking and access out of view.

It is the consistency of natural materials implemented; concrete, glass and stone with the sliding timber sunscreens that protect against the early morning East light, that all come together to make up the aesthetic feel of this minimalist natural contemporary home of the future.
