Hemelzicht Farmhouse
Breathtaking picturesque views and a perfect climate for wine made the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley the ideal location for our clients to live and make wine. The backdrop of the dramatic Babilonstoringberge sets the stage to open the North façade to the views and introduce gable walls to the East and West while maintaining adequate overhangs for protection to outside living as per traditional Cape Dutch architecture.
The beauty and serenity of the surrounding landscape infiltrates into the architecture which features a double volume barn styled roof made of solid Spruce timber, thick insulated walls, and a deep veranda that associate the building with historic vernacular in a contemporary style. The farmhouse design concept is replicated with the nearby more traditional looking ancillary Barn building which stores farming machinery and includes an integrated guest house.
